Today, Alexion announced that it has finalized its settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to resolve claims related to the company’s support of independent charity patient assistance programs between 2010 and 2016. Alexion will make a payment of approximately $13 million under the terms of the agreement.
Alexion is pleased to have reached a constructive resolution with the government that recognizes the significant positive changes achieved over the last two years under the company’s new leadership.
This settlement marks the conclusion of an investigation related to the previously disclosed December 2016 subpoena involving the company’s support of and interactions with independent charity patient assistance programs that provide financial assistance to patients with diseases treated by Alexion therapies. Alexion was among a number of companies that received similar subpoenas as part of an industry-wide government investigation.
We are committed to continuing to work toward our mission of transforming the lives of people with rare and devastating diseases.
